Tractor Run suspended
After recent government announcements on the Coronavirus, it will come as no surprise to anyone, we’re sure, to learn that John Foale has decided to postpone the 2020 Tractor Run, and cancel the open day planed for 5th April at The Fisherman’s Rest. As John would say, “What a fine mess?”
John wishes to emphasise that he has every intention of continuing to promote the Air Ambulance and our supporters by turning out, with the tractor, to various shows that keep running, such as Kingsbridge, Yealmpton, Totnes and Kingsbridge Carnival. The advertising trailer will continue to be prepared for these events later in the summer. This will, of course, be subject to the timing of getting out the other side of the pandemic restrictions.
It is only a postponement of the run and once we know how things develop we will announce new 2021 dates to coincide with the Royal Cornwall Show again. So pencil 20th May start at John O Groats 2021 in your diary/calendar! This means that the following text, written for this year’s run, is not redundant. For 2020, simply substitute 2021!
In May 2020, John Foale, a 74 year-old agricultural engineer who specialises in restoring vintage tractors, will make the epic journey of over a 1000 miles in a 40 year-old Leyland tractor, from one end of the country to the other, all in aid of the Air Ambulance.
He will stop at various agricultural shows, race tracks and other events on the way, collecting money for local air ambulances as he goes. See below for a list of Air Ambulances for which John will be fundraising.
In the meantime he has been restoring this old tractor so that it looks pristine and will be capable of completing the journey.
